Food And Drink

Tasting and enjoying new foods can make a holiday, but knowing what to expect can make it even better. Your invoice will state your meal arrangements or board basis so we have detailed below what you can generally expect in your accommodation. Please be aware that different hotels will vary in size and the facilities available.

Self Catering

Self Catering - Kitchenette

If you are staying in Self Catering accommodation, you can expect to be responsible for all meals and drinks yourself. Often studios or apartments, you will probably have your own kitchenette complete with cooking equipment in your accommodation.

Bed & Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast - Coffee and toast

Bed & Breakfast accommodation is exactly that, but the kind of breakfast you receive depends on your location. In Turkey and Greece this may be continental style. This generally consists of a selection of breads, rolls, croissants, jams and cold meat. Budget hotels may serve this presented on a tray, whilst most other hotels offer a cold buffet. You should not expect hot items unless otherwise specified.

American/Traditional Breakfast - Generally consists of a hot and cold buffet.

Half Board

Half board - Bowl of salad

Usually half board consists of breakfast and evening meal (unless otherwise stated on accommodation pages).

Full Board

Full board - Sandwich for lunch

Includes breakfast, lunch and evening meal.

All Inclusive

Drinks and Cocktails - All Inclusive

Includes breakfast, lunch, evening meal and locally produced drinks. For restrictions, please see hotel descriptions.

Direct Holidays Team Tip

Team Tip

When you're staying in self catering or half board accommodation, check out the surrounding restaurants. If you find one that you want to try, plan your day so you are in that area for lunch or dinner.
