Overview
A holiday in the Greek islands offers a taste of the traditional as well as modern hotels and facilities. Sleepy fishing villages still manage to maintain their laidback lifestyle relatively untouched by tourism, while larger resorts have embraced the fact that a wide variety of restaurants and activities appeal to all ages.
Crete, the largest island, benefits from a fantastic climate, stunning beaches and plenty of history and archaeology to explore. Zante (known locally as Zakynthos) is perhaps a little more relaxed, though this won't be the case for much longer, as it's quickly becoming a popular holiday destination.
